Meccanotecnica Umbra S.p.A., founded over 40 years ago, is an international manufacturer of mechanical seals for water pumps. The company's share of the global market is approximately 35% of the automotive sector and 50% of the dishwasher sector.
Founded in Campello sul Clitunno, Italy, the company continues to operate its world headquarters from this small Umbrian town, located about halfway between Spoleto and Assisi, and about 2 hours north of Rome.
The South American market is served by our Brazilian plant, which opened in 2001. In 2006 we opened our plant in Qingdao, China, which is responsible for supplying and developing our Southeast Asian markets.
With the acquisition of Huhnseal AB (Sweden) in January of 2008, Meccanotecnica Group increased its range of products and solidified its position in the medium and heavy duty industrial seals sectors.
At the beginning of 2010, we began additional strategic operations, such as the acquisition of our competitor, Cyclam North America, which gave life to Meccanotecnica USA. We also started a joint venture with Madurai in India, in conjunction with HTA, owned by Arai in Japan, which is the leading producer of this type of seal in all of Southeast Asia.
Having achieved this expansion, the Group now has both a distribution and a production presence on every continent.
