Meccanotecnica USA has a certified Quality System in accordance with ISO 9001. The same system has been certified in accordance with the technical specification for the automotive sector, later updated in 2017 at IATF 16949.
Quality, technical competence and service are the means to compete in the market and the basic elements of our business strategies, with the intention of always considering the Customer in first place and having "the highest Customer satisfaction in accordance with the Customer's expectations and requirements as our objective, as a result of the high quality of our products and our services".

The WEEE Directive (2002/96/EC) is designed to prevent and limit the flow of equipment refuse to landfills through the reuse and recycling of equipment and components. To provide incentives for the introduction of environmental considerations in the design phase of products, the Directive charges producers of electrical and electronic equipment for the expense of handling, recovering and disposing of equipment at the end of its life. This Directive was acknowledge in Italian law through Legislative Decree 151/2005, which requires producers of such equipment to establish a national system for the collection, transport and ecological handling of products at the end of their life, financing and managing its operation. It also requires marking and supplying information to users.

Meccanotecnica Umbra As a component producer, Meccanotecnica Umbra does not fall directly within the scope of the WEEE Directive but it has introduced environmental considerations into the design of its products.



Quality and certifications


The RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC, and subsequent additions, restricting the use of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) in electrical and electronic equipment, was acknowledged in Italian law by Legislative Decree 151/2005.

As a producer of electrical and electronic equipment components, Meccanotecnica Umbra has brought its products into compliance with the RoHS Directive in order to respond promptly to the needs of its customers. A declaration of conformity for our products can be obtained by contacting the Quality Management Department.



Quality and certifications


Regulation (EC) no. 1907/2006 REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals), which entered into force on 1 June 2007, with regard to the registration, evaluation, authorisation and restriction of chemical substances, establishes an EU-level framework for the regularisation of all chemical substances on the market. In particular, the Regulation foresees the registration of all substances produced or imported into the European Union that are equal to or exceed one tonne per year. For manufacturers and importers of substances and preparations (mixes of two or more substances), the registration of substances entails the obligation to present to the EU Agency a series of basic information on the substances’ characteristics. Meccanotecnica Umbra is in a position to reassure its customers that the substances used in its products respect the provisions of the REACH Regulation. The ATEX Directives (Directive 94/9/EC and Directive 1999/92/EC) regulate, throughout the EU, the marketing and the use of equipment and protective systems, electrical and non, in potentially explosive atmospheres due to the presence of flammable gases, vapours and mists, as well as combustible dust, by defining the essential health and safety requirements.   Incorporated in Italy by Presidential Decree 126/1998 and Legislative Decree 233/2003, respectively, the Directives entered into force in July 2003; the adjustment period granted to users ended on 30 June 2006. Specifically, Directive 94/9/EC regulated manufacturers, requiring them to carry out a specific risk evaluation on commercialised equipment, in order to obtain from Notified Bodies the certificate of conformity for their use in a potentially explosive atmosphere, whereas Directive 1999/92/EC made users aware of their responsibility concerning the identification of all work environments where a potentially explosive atmosphere may be present or generated, in addition to the consequent inspection of the existing equipment in order to guarantee the minimum requirements listed in the Directive.

Meccanotecnica Umbra offers its customers a range of mechanical seals certified in accordance with the requirements of the ATEX directives. Customers also have access to the documentation related to the ways of using said seals on equipment responding to the aforementioned directives. The certificate of conformity sets forth the appropriate security instructions in view of the possible risks, their causes and any related measures.

For years, Meccanotecnica Umbra has partnered with various reputable international manufacturers of pumps for the drinking water, beverage and food industry, in full compliance with the rigorous reference legislation and in full compliance with the safety rules and regulations that apply to the food and beverage industry. Meccanotecnica Umbra offers a wide range of standard mechanical seals certified by WRAS, NSF, ASC and other certification bodies and offers its customers the possibility of designing and developing customised products that conform to the aforementioned certifications upon specific request.
